missing link or 2.5 bar ?
 

i was wondering which is better... i readed missing link elminates map so, if i run abuot 10+ psi and i put a missing link i will have no limit abouit boost? cuz if i want to run w/ map i will have to put other map cuz the oem map works good until 10 psi or less.. and how work exactly missink linke? ..and yes.. this is a n00b question :1

You can't compare the two.

If you're going to run over ~14 psi you need a new map sensor.

For people that use an FMU.

People that use FMUs also use stock ECUs. If ANY boost goes to the map sensor, the stock ecu will have a cow and throw a CEL. The missing link is a one-way valve that prevents boost from reaching the map sensor.

oh. i see. then i will need a we map sensor though i run to 10 psi.. but what you means about if ANY boost goes to the map sensor stock ecu will trhow CEL?.. if stock ecu detects that there is boost from map sensor throw CEL, right?

wally this is one of the dumber questions ive seen you ask

a missing link is a band aid device designed to hide boost from the ecu...how are you going to tune using a chipped ecui if you're hiding boost from it?

a stock 1.75 bar map sensor after atmospheric pressure at my altitude reads a max 10.7psi. past that its nicer to go to a 2.5-4 bar to read higher boost and have a more accurate tune, and still be able to control a boost limiter, but ive run in excess of 15psi on stock sensors

you DONT need a new map for 10psi. the stock( map sensor) is good for ~14.7 psi.
no you will not have a stock ecu it will have a chip, so no codes for you ^-^

Just tune it rich above what the stock map sensor reads and you'll be ok for a little while. Even that's like using a band-aid though. 2.5 bar+ ftw for the most accurate setup :y

i'm glad someone pointed that out since the poster seems to not be up to speed.

yes, you can push as much psi you want on a stock map sensor w/ a chipped/tuneable ecu, but the last columns are what it'll read off of. therefore, whatever is in the 11psi is what you tune for beyond that. the problem is that if you are at 11psi you'll be way off tune (too rich and too little timing=sh#t). yes, i've run 14psi on my stock mapsensor, but would i recommend it to someone starting out? no! do it right the first time.

we are all about diy and homemade, but let's point him in the proper direction at least. go ahead and get the 2.5bar or more mapsensor and then scale your map for the proper mapsensor. you'll get the proper resolution for boost and really be able to tune it properly. i'd hate to see you blow your setup because we have all at one time or another pushed the stock mapsensor beyond what it was intended for because we knew how to work around it.
