missed 5th gear hit 7600rpm appox loud loud ticks!help vid!
so yah im a dumb ***
now car is ticking loud
imma try adjustment tonite
expletive on the way back from dyno
i overred to 7600
what can happen?
bent valve?
need valve adjust

You probably went higher than that. I missed once and hit around 8500. Split second though. The clutch went right the ---- back in after that.
Nothing happened to the valvetrain.
How long did you let it ride?

i wasnt redlining 4th either
i think it was at like 6500

Kinda sounds like a rocker...or maybe the lash adjustment screw loosened up all the way. Had that happen to my b16 2 weeks ago. Pop the valve cover off and check to make sure all the rocker arms are in place first. Then check valve lash after if they're still all there. And do it ASAP! :P

you can also spin a bearing if you over rev sometimes as well, i'd try and figure out if its coming from the head or block for sure before getting anything done and wasteing money
although it does sound like its comeing from the head... doesnt quite sound like a spun bearing IMO
i've had that happen on the turbo datsun i had, was doing a burnout and a rocker arm popped right out and started beating the spring, sounded nasty but still ran ok.. take a looksee under the cover like he said, maybe whatever it is is visable

i think my brother did that once, it sounded pretty much the same. He drove it like that for a few days, then he was going to take it to a mechanic (this was before i knew ---- about engines) and on the way the spun bearing locked up causing the rod to break and blow a hole in the block. at a ----- *** 25mph
