Mega Squirt - DIY Engine Control Unit

Okay well im big into electronics. And im wondering if I should build one of these... Looks cool

Does it send false signals to the stock ECU or send its own to the parts of the motor? Like does it alter the stock sensors signal to the ECU to generate desired effect? THX guys

Feel free to post up everything about this Project. And good/bad expearences

Tory

From what I have gathered from other sites one of the things it was designed for was carburation to fuel injection conversions, so it should send it's own signals. I have also heard that they are developing an ignition control module to work with the megasquirt so it will be closer to a DIY stand-alone system. Don't know if this helps, but it's all the info I have as of now. :)

Yes I read the ignition thing too. I heard you can just adapt your version 2 of the ECU you made to support the ignition module.

the megasquirt replaces your stock ecu.. You can still run your stock computer for ignition , electric shift, and all other functions.. The fuel part is just not doing anything anymore.. I have one "it was easy to build and works perfectly". If your an electronics whiz you really should get one.. "the amount I've learned about fi alone is worth the $110 for the kit"... ;D

I was going to build it from scrathc with out the kit....

I have an acid tank to make the circuit board but this would be my first ever double sided circuit board

Can it be upgraded to support 4 injectors? Cuz it looks like it only supports 2.

Re:Mega Squirt - DIY Engine Control Unit

The megasquirt currently supports 8 injectors,, "up to 8" it can be used in a 1 injector system as well. The system supports two banks .. You can put 4 on one bank and 4 on the other.. 2 &2 for a 4 cyl.. The system either does a simultanious squirt of all injectors or an alternating squirt "bank1 then bank2".. In most systems this is fine.. If your looking for "Sequential injection" meaning all the injectors are independant of each other, the unit is NOT designed for that.. "most people claim it makes no difference anyway" Personally I feel that if you really really want to tweak each injector seperatly then you are looking for a much higher end unit.. The makers claim this will work with any gasoline engine..... ;D

Re:Mega Squirt - DIY Engine Control Unit

So how hard is it to put on a Dseries honda motor?

Any changes need to be done to the existing senors etc? What can I look to run in terms of intercooeld boost? Providing a complete rebuild including :

Supra TT pistons
b16a rods
turbo cam
valve seats
ported head
notched block
inreased oiling
cooling
oil cooler
etc. all cheap DIY engine mods

can 12psi be had?

THX guys keep em coming.....

Re:Mega Squirt - DIY Engine Control Unit

You put suppra TT piston in your D15A6 ???

What is the spec???

The compression???

do you think is good for 13 ,, 14 psi???

Thanks

Re:Mega Squirt - DIY Engine Control Unit

guy on hondatech was claiming that with supra tt pistons and b16a rods it was the exact same stroke and bore. he has done it in his a6. forged pistons also :P

u cant push 14psi i dont think with a d16 stock sleeves. but who knows someone should try.
