map sensor problems with turbo
I have a zc in a 1991 crx. I than decided to put an IHI turbo off a probe on it. I have always had trouble getting that check engine light off. I have tried check valves and they don't seem to get me going. I was wondering if anyone has tried the missing link and how it worked out for them. As well dose anyone know where I could get one. I also run MSD ignition, I have the Dis 6 and the external coil and pro cap. I have the option of timeing retard but I am not to sure how to hook it up with boost. should I use a pressure sensative switch or is there a better set up.
If anyone could help steer me in the right direction I would really apreachite it. AS well with my set up, what fuel set up should I run. Stand alone, AFC, or just an adjustable pressure regulator, I have the regulator right now but don't know if its the best rout to go. Thanks steve |
Re:map sensor problems with turbo
u have a FMU (or boost dependant regulator) ? how many check valves?
450cc injectors and a AFC would yeild better tuning. |
Re:map sensor problems with turbo
I have only tryed one check valve, I thought any more might be restriction from the map sensor. due to the fact that a check valve causes restriction. I use a boost dependent pressure regulator. Not the best way to go but what I could afford. Could I use injectors out of an eagle talon? and if I can, I would probubly use a bigger pump. Maby a talon pump as well, or some sort of inline pump?.

Re:map sensor problems with turbo
I tried and tired myself on check valves but still I was facing the checkengine problem.
What resolved my problem was the missing link, i bought the Greddy missing link and now its cool. O.8Bar in a D15z6 ;D |
Re:map sensor problems with turbo
inline pump will work, always recommended for any turbo upgrade, id go with a walbro 255lph when u get the $. you dont want to ever run lean and fry pistons rings. also eagle talon injectors will work. Just make sure they are from a turbo talon tsi. If not they arent really useful. do you know what size they are because i believe the automatics are 380cc and the manaul turbo car is a 450cc injector... those are ideal for higher boost. Ive tried check valves and they gave me some trouble just like any custom turbo application would. You just have to mess around with them. Try 1 then 2 then 3... also make sure the air is flowing the right way. Also try revving ur engine in neutral and since ur not boosting and if u still get the code then ur map sensor isnt getting vac and u should reduce bleeding from the check valves.. if all else fails u might need a new map sensor. is the map code the only 1 u get?

Re:map sensor problems with turbo
:o
Dude// Way too much boost going to your map sensor... Hondabuilt MAPs are not designed for any boost pressure. If it senses any, it WILL throw a code. You may not be using the right valves on the line, try using vaccuum tees to bleed off the extra boost.... these guys are right on- you definitely need more, just try a little at a time. I might suggest a 5-way tee, and try a combination to see what will keep MAP in check...L8r |
Re:map sensor problems with turbo
1 check valve is NOT enough.. some people require 5 to keep the CEL off.. just keep adding one until it stays off..
remember only add them to the MAP line. no other lines. and no. the are 1 way check valves so when you aren';t in boost they will not affect anything. a missing link will not work for you. they are designed to work w/ 92+ cars that have the map sensor mounted on top of the TB not on the fire wall. |
