MAP Question

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that the reason one needs to bleed off the pressure to the MAP senor with check valves is b/c the MAP throws a code if it reads positive pressure. If this is the case, why cant one just disconnect the vaccum line that runs from the MAP, squeeze it to force some of the air out, and then seal it off someohow? The slight suction from the line after you squeeze it would keep the MAP happy, right?

Re:MAP Question

well first of all. the map reads different vacuums at different rpm's. So if you were to set it like that to a single vacuum it wont work right.

Secondly. Anything that you do to tuune the car needs to see the boost. Like.. a AFC modifies signals frrom the map. ghettodyne reads changes ecu to be able to reconize boost and accomidate the air flow and fuel needs.

Your theory is correct in some areas. some its not.
The MAP doesn't throw the code. its good to 1 bar until its voltages are maxed out. It's the ecu that throws the code. The ECU is programmed to not see anything higher then a preset pressure/vacuum and it throws a code if it sees it.
