"CHEAP ASS" lol, dont half ass it go buy some, i kno it might seem cool, but u will never kno if there acurate.. unlike copanys that make them :P

out of all the things to make on your own those are some i would just buy. like 90turboteg said, you will never know if its accurate and you need those to be accurate.

these aren't the things to DIY...---- these up and theres a good chance your engine will go boom a lot sooner than expected

IF you know what you're doing, you can make these yourself and they will be as accurate or better than the commercial units. But if saving money is your endgame, it isn't going to happen. The components necessary will cost more than just buying them premade.

The boost presure gauge is quite simple you need a map sensor, LCD display and a pic on some bread board.
The oil sensor hummm. We just go down to the wreckers pull something that looks nice. Pop over to the Meter shop in the same place and get it calibrated and checked out for like a dollar.
FOr Oil temps. A cheap thermister off one of the new scooters or Bikes like again a buck or two does the job.

Anyway egay seems to be flooded with cheap china made gauiges why bother.

a friend of mine made his own boost gauge. it was pretty accurate. I'll ask how he did that.

This is assuming quite a lot. You have access to an electronics workshop with the necessary PIC burner and programming skills as well as sources for cheap parts. You also have an electronics background with the knowledge to do this sort of thing. Given all of that, the op wouldn't have posted the question here since they'd already know what to do.

How about doing a write up for laymen on how to build one of these cheap. Maybe you could program the pic chips and make the code available so people can just pick up a few bits from radio shack and throw it together. I was actually planning on doing something like this before I got in the accident. Now my spare time is going into fixing my CRX.

Re: making own boost and oil pressure gauge?

Well I gave him both options.
a. He knows electronics or has a friend of a firend who does.
Pic is being taught on allmost any campus arround the world. SHouldnt be too hard to catch a final year student to do it for a few beers.
b. Asuming he dont know squat electronics wise. Then he has the wreckers route. Just get it calibrated.
c. China and Egay are also an option.
d. If he had the cash he wouldnt be here or asking such questions. ;D

Sure Ill post up what ever we pull off on the present project.
But Im preety sure some guys has allready done this. He put the map sensor into a little plastic box. And put the display where his ash tray was. THe best part he did it analogue with like under 10 components. And even posted the circuit.

Just cant seem to find that dam link.

hell yea. that sounds interesting. I was taklin about a mechanical boost gauge, but a electronic one would rock. >:D
