LS (sub<)300HP What is needed?

Motor has been using a bit of oil here lately, so look likes about time for a rebuild. The motor is a B18a w/ about 180k, and i'm running a 14b @ 8 psi. Now I plan on keeping the 14b around so I doubt the fresh motor will see much over 14psi. What should be replaced with better aftermarket counterparts to be able to withstand the massive amount of power i'll be laying down :P. For sure i'll be going with all new bearings/seals/rings, along with ARP head studs & rod bolts, but what else do you guy think i'll need. Thanks O0

Opps, forgot to mention. I'm running DSM 450cc right now. BTW it made 216 @8psi running stock fuel pump, leaing out above 6k.

Nope they take 8000rpm just fine unfortunetly i know :-X Throw some tuner toys rods and x brand forged piston in if you got the extra coin but if not just do the ARP gear and a rebuild.

I made damn close to 300hp dynojet numbers on my stock b18b small 16g, dsm 450's, walbro pump, logmanifold, srt4 ic, running ectune with a safe tune and the wastegate actuator opening up on top @ 17psi pump. If that gives you any idea. Your gonna be hard pressed to bust 300hp on stock cams I think though. Delta regrinds FTW!

Was the leaning out due to bad tune, because theres no way 216hp will max out 450s even with a stock fuel pump.

Just because you CAN spin it up to 8 grand on a stock cam doesn't mean you're still building power.

Granted my valves were adjusted a bit lose, and my engine has seen better days, I set my limiter to 7200 because at 7500 I was experiencing valve float. Scary stuff at the top of 4th gear. Not saying all LS's are like that. Just mine. Ive always been under the impression that 8000rpms is the dangerzone for kicking out rocker arms?

Yes that is entirely true but shifting into 5th at the drag strip really hurts times.I think any more then 7500 on a stock LS head is asking for trouble but i think the rocker arms dont become a issue till 8500ish provided you have cams and springs.

See my tuner(who is very reputable in our area) told me that I was maxing out my stock fuel pump. Above 6k he said that he was adding fuel but it was maxing out some where. I got 450s so must be the fuel pump. Could I ge a a FPR to compensate for this???

Re: LS (sub<)300HP What is needed?

Just run external fuel pump , no need to ---- woth them nasty FPR's.
