Low On Oil...

I drive a Honda Civic with a D16z6 running a Garrett T3 turbo

I changed my oil about a week ago using a sythentic blend.. I checked my oil today and the dipstick showed that my oil was really really low... I put in the right ammount of oil in but why is it soo low again... do I need to put im more oil in to account for the turbo?

i have no clue whats up...there isnt any oil leaks...i would notice 2-3 quarts...does it matter that I check the oil when then engine is still warm?

Re: Low On Oil...

Yes it does, when you check it when it's cold all the oil is sitting in the pan. When the engine is warm alot of the oil is still in you're motor and less of it in the oil pan.

Maybe the oil is blowing by your piston rings? Do you have a breather filter on the valve cover nipple?

i change oil for a living and have been doing it for 3 years sucks :P but heres a quick story. my friend kept saying MY OILS LOW, MY OILS LOW, so i went over there and the dumbass had his car on his kinda steep drive way . 1. make sure you have the car perfectely flat. go under it and check for leaks. if you dont see nothing that bad mabey you didnt fill it right? get on a flat surface 100% horizontal fill the oil till its fully full and you know for sure. then check it a week later

Have you always been using synthetics, I've heard if you switch to synthetic it will cause your seals to leak!? correct me if I'm wrong. Rubber absorbs regular motor oil but not synthetic...if you switch the seals release the regular oil and contract, which could cause oil leaks...Just a though...Matt

actually its the syunthetic that causes the seals to swell up. The reason why people say that switching to synthetic makes your car leak oil is cause the synthetic stuff is 'thinner'. so if your car already has a lleak or a really small leak, expect it to get bigger with the synthetic.

It will make your car leak more! It isn't really thinner though, just slippery as ----! When you break an engine in you aren't supposed to use it because it it too slippery. Won't let parts seat properly. It WILL slip right past your gaskets, and even a turbo seal if the turbo is used.
