Low compression Pistons

hey, ive tried searching on this... didnt find anything though.

whatare the lowest compression pistons you have seen for sale and where can i get them? im aiming for 7:1, but around 8:1 would be fine. i have a b18a1 thats being stripped down and built. and this is the only part that im having trouble finding. thanks.

Re:Low compression Pistons

I think that's a bit too low IMO

You could always just have your existing pistons shaved off the top.. they do that all the time with v8 pistons, called "reconditioned pistons"

I had around 9.1:1 on my old motor and it was fast and response was quick.
Then I built the same motor with 8.1:1 pistons and i need a lot more boost to go as fast as I did with 9.1:1. Reponse also suffered.
Just my $.02

IMO 7.1 is too low.

Re:Low compression Pistons

i was recommended by my uncle to go with low compression, he said around 7:1. so thats why i was asking. hes been working with cars and ---- forever so i trust his word.
im trying to build a bullet proof turbo motor, so i wanna get forged aftermarket pistons. thanks for the input guys.

Re:Low compression Pistons

I would assume your uncle is from the old school running lower compression pistons with a roots blower sitting on top.

The guys around here know their ---- man when it comes to a honda, I would stick with something around 9:1 which is great for the boost. ---- Jeff was running like 11.6:1 with his TT LsVtec setup. All about the fuel managment baby.

with 7:1 its gonna be a major ------- pig down low and is way lower than necessary ::)

Re:Low compression Pistons

yeah, he was talking about how the first turbocharged cars had something like 5:1 and all that. thanks for the suggestions.

Re:Low compression Pistons

9.1 is as LOW as I would go on a honda.. My GF has 9.1 pistons in her H22 and the thing is just a ------- dog NA.

I am personally using 10.1 pistons in my built setup.

Jeff
