Losing boost with carb spring in 4th and 5th gear

well i boost around 10psi with a carb spring on the internal wastegate good 1st 2nd and 3rd but 4th and 5th i have boost till around 4k then it just drops, should i try using 2 springs?

you should try using this magical new device they call a wastegate.

Replace the spring with a piece of coathanger.

he said he is using a wastegate, with a carb spring instead of an arm.

Have you tested it without the carb spring? I hate internal wastegates.

Could be wrong, but the way I read it he has a plain dumb throttle return spring connected to the flapper instead of a wastegate actuator.

thats exactly the way you read it, best advice is to get an actuator back on there.

ur looseing boost because of the extact same reasonthat MBC's will boost different psi in different gears. More load onthe engine, more exhaust gas pressure, even though same boost pressure.

heavier load in higher gears tends to cause more boost, not less in most cases.

yea i figured that was the prob, havnt had time 2 fab up a new bracket for the wastegate acuator, after i clocked the turbo it was a bitch 2 figure out how 2 mount it so i just used the ghetto carb spring

shits solved, jus lengthed the rod very long to reach the internal wastegate, also how do the manual boost controllers work, i hooked my ---- up to the intake manifold to the wastegate, i allways thought you used the nipple on the turbo? but i just did what the instructions said
