Default list of all my problems.


Hi, i'm not new to the forum scene...nor to this page. i've read alot and learned alot from this site. i just now decided to register because i am in need of a little help. actually..i have quite a few problems.

my set up goes as follows...

93 civic hatch back
jdm b16 from hmotorsonline.
fmax turbo kit t3/t4 ball bearing
ditched the piggy back.
7psi tial waste gate...dumped tube goes back into the down pipe (environmental safe :P)
dsm 450 injectors
running on chrome for fuel management

the motor has been running for 6 months n/a

then, turbo was installed and ran for about 4000 miles

ok..now the problems...

erratic idle...could be from chrome
the occasional/not very frequent white smoke at idle, and wot....i was told blow by gas...but not sure

when i do compression test...its never really accurate...

on week i got 230/230/210/230
another week i would get 230/230/230/205

i wanna do a leak down test, but not sure how to do it (anyone want to help me out in the philly area? )

now for the tranny...

i did a 2nd gear pull one night...and i heard a loud pop...
when i got home...i could not get into reverse. i had to go into first gear..move up a lil...throw it into reverse..and move back a lil..and this process went on for about 10 minutes until finally everything felt proper again. However...my reverse lights do not work now. its weird. maybe reverse switch? anyway...i dunno how i magically fixed my own tranny...but i want to know if that happened to anyone else?

i think thats all for now. i'm sorry if i laid down so much on you...but those are the problems i'm getting right now. i mean...the car runs and all..but i'd like more feed back. i dont think my car is running to its optimal peak.

so... can someone check out my chrome and see if its good?
help do a leak down test?
and replys about that weird tranny problem?

You should check to see that your reverse light harness is still plugged in on the tranny. If not, "someting broke up in der". Erratic idle seems to be a frequent problem with Uberdata setups, so i'm not surprised you have it also. You might check the uberdata forum (www.ecimulti.org/uberdata/forum) to see what has been suggested to fix it. You're still editing the fuel maps on the ecu; the program you are using to edit them shouldn't make a difference. I couldn't help you on the leakdown test.

well the leak down test will be erratic also, cuz it deals with some of the same stuff. Run a can of sea foam through the fuel and crankcase and see what you can get from that, it is a wonderful product.

Is the white smoke comming from the exhaust or the engine, like the turbo??

my white smoke is coming from the exhaust. it doesn't happen very often. just once in awhile.

how does my compression test look though?

also...i get some hesitation between 4000 rpm sometimes.

i've been getting so may probs w/ this car lately...i dunno if its worth keeping it. i have full time school and full time work....this full time hobby aint helping me much.

I can't really understand your erratic results. You need to have precise numbers though, you can't just say that you get numbers "like".

Is it one cylinder that is constantly the low cylinder?? You want to have less than 15psi differance. From the teo sets you posted it makes me think that you are reasonably close to that range, if so I wouldn't think it is causing any problems.

sorry if i mislead you cray91. i didn't really mean that my erratic idling was caused by my compression test. what i really wanted to explain was all my problems i get since i turboed.

erratic idle

weird compression. its either cylinder 3 that is low...or cylinder 4. never both.

occasional white smoke

occassional hesitation

weird tranny problems.

really i just wanted to bitch about the car. thats all...and see if anyone ever had the problems im having running on chrome program.

i just got back from the track. didn't do so bad...

with alot of wheel hop and 2.3 60' i made 14.1 at 101 mph.

nothing blew...so i guess my car is running ok. i just know it could be running alot better. thanks for the reply though man.

where are your water lines for the turbo connected to?
i had a problem with the idle because of the fast idle valve. i later read the tech article about not using the water line before it on EGs.

my mph is low? where should i be? i think i coulda gotten into the 13's if it wasn't for my wheel hop. i didn't lower the pressure from my tires.
