LiL Diff Question??

This is prolly a dumb question but i gotta ask. Here goes: Will adding Boost shorten the life of the motor, or if tuned properly will it last as long as the stock motor would last? Now im not talking anything over 10psi, and yes the motor is running stock internals.(B16A) And as for extra maintenance is there really any by adding turbo? You should check your oil as you would without boost correct? I think thats about it. Thanx guys.

check your oil more often and change it more often.

lot more maintenance. In terms of motor life, not sure..

more pressure = more stress = more wear = shorter engine life

Like the old saying goes... if you burn the candle from both ends, you get twice the light... for half the time.

Just somthing to remember!

when you take a econo motor from econo to performance regular maintenance becomes preventative maintenance.

Re:LiL Diff Question??

But a 1G B16 is by far not a Econo motor... It was made for high revs and racing, so thats what made me ask my question. I know this is one of the stronger motors out there, thus why i am wondering how long it'll last on boost. thanx for the info guys,...

b16 was not made for racing. thats why they sell them in cars that are driven on the street.

if you put an intake on your car the engine wont live as long. more preformance will always wear the engine faster. you will probably need to change your spark plugs a lot more often as well.

I beg to differ Look up what si"R" stands for. Now the later B16s werent reffered to as SiR's, They were in Si's. In Japan they were in SiR's Which means Not fuel economic.

And if you can't find it it's Sport Injection Racing.

Re:LiL Diff Question??

ofcourse you would want to check up on the engine more cuz you know its going threw more harsh conditions. ofcourse you will change oil sooner, check oil more often, add fluint when needed, check plugs, thats all normal to me when adding something like a turbo! if you take care of it and its tuned properly it should live a long life. remember, you're not hitting boost 24/7. most the time its regular driving as if the car was almost stock, then you can just boost whenever ;) unless you got an everyday heavy foot ::)
