Lightend Pulley / Faster Spool???

This prolly sounds like an amateur question but F it. I am building my turbo kit for my VTEC D16 and bought a lightend crank pulley to make w/ the faster spool. Heres the thing, I need cash and am contimplating selling the pulley. Will it make that much of a diffrence w/ the pulley? If not... that bitch is sold.... Thanx :o

I really dont think you would see a difference. Its kind of like a lightened flywheel but you wont even see as much of a difference as that. There probobably is not that much of a difference in mass between the two. Any other opinions?

My guess is that you wouldnt notice that big of a difference at all. Why dont you pop it on there and tell us what you think?

i have one sitting around ill put on one of these days. it actually is a big difference in weight, i really want to try one of the single belt pulleys.

I have a race pulley from d-h racing its a single belt pulley weighs 6 oz as compared to the 6lbs stock. Its supposed to make 20% at the wheels guranteed we will see when the car is finished getting sprayed. The only thing im worried about is it killing the alternator.

I was contemplating this as well as the lightened flywheel for my D16.
I came to the conclusion that I shouldn't use the lightened stuff down low because of the turbo. Think about it like this:
Your turbo takes care of the top end, so think about the bottom end (torque). I think the motor will actually benefit from having more rotational weight downstairs to keep the motor spinning hard when your clutch grabs onto it. If everything is lightened, when your clutch grabs, there isn't as much weight helping to spin the motor when the clutch "tries to stop it". I think this will help the bottom end torque, and the turbo takes care of the rest. Of course it would rev faster, but I'm thinking it might bog when the clutch grabs that fucker. Just a theory of mine that I've decided to use on my D. -Steve (plus I've spent enough money on this fucken thing. ;))

True that Stealthmode, but i guess I'm going to lighten my flywheel anyways, cause I rode in one and damnnn that thing revs.....The quick revs will give you a big gain...you'll loose the torque at the start, but you'll catch up and pass by when going thru gears for sure....the faster you go thru the gears at your max rpm the faster the car will get to it's tops speed ;)

Re:Lightend Pulley / Faster Spool???

stealthy is 100% right, my a6 has a lightened factory flywheel. That thing revs like a race bike, but i can't roll into 2nd gear on ANYTHING less then 2k or it shudders and crap like a mofo.

Im not saying clutch drop at 2k, just normal driving. but a light FW does wonders for rev matching on downshifts ;D
