Default Leaky Intercooler

I had a guy give me an IC core, I welded up some end tanks and put it all together. It looks great. Then I pressure tested it and it leaks. The sad part is I can't get in to weld where it's leaking. It's leaking where the core meets the tank(not what I did) so I need some sort of epoxy or sealant to seal it up. Anybody know of a good alum. epoxy or does J-B weld make anything for alum.? I know it's not ideal, but it's going to be a 7 lb setup and I'd like to at least try and seal it before scrapping it.

Thanks

D.

If its not a huge deal just take it out and weld it. If you patch it, it will just pop a hole later on down the line. Its the pay me now, or pay me later type of thing.

Take what out? It's not in the car. It's on my bench, and it leaks. It's where the tube meets the tank, and it's impossible to weld unless I chop it up.

devcon liquid aluminum.....

it's about $40 for a 1lb. container

the good thing about this stuff is: that if you ever want to put block posts in, this is the stuff you use to seal it up ***2 birds, 1 stone***

they make some ---- for doing a/c condesors also, its cheap and works good, a/c can run 300psi so I think you would be good to go.

Why not just cut the tank off and reweld it on the end like they usually are from the factory? Then it's good as new and you don't have to worry about it in the future.

Because I would have to start from scratch again, and I have a hard enough time finding the time to do this stuff in the first place. It's a lo-buck, HMT setup. I am not going to systematically take the IC apart and rebuild it, it just doesn't make sense. Should I? yes of course, I do believe in doing things the right way. But to reweld everything would take more time than it's worth, I'd rather chuck it in the garbage and start with a better core.
