KKK turbo

Yes I have searched but I cant find an answer to my question. Which is a good turbo for a b18. I read somewhere that a kkk turbo is like a t3/t4 but I have also heard that it is too small for this motor, can I please get this question resolved. Thanks for any info.

Which one are you refering to?

Re: KKK turbo

there are several different turbochargers of the KKK variety... and several variations on each one... so lets see if this helps...

KO3 good for 15-17psi with spikes to 19-20psi good for 200whp on a 1.8T VW
KO3 Sport same as above but will support 225whp
KO4 supports 250whp IIRC

but there are several more turbochargers than just these... also there are different variations with different compressor and turbine housings for different models. try being more specific.

Re: KKK turbo

it's a little on the small side. comparable to a garrett t3 it wouldn't be my first pick. and yes KKK is owned by borgwarner. still keeps the KKK badging but owned by BW switzer is also owned by them and Airwerks

Re: KKK turbo

i have a k26 on my d16a1 (dohc 118 hp usdm zc) and it works quite well. its a little laggy, i get full boost (10 psi) at around 3800-4000 rpm, sometimes sooner depending on the gear/driveing conditions. anyways, i think it would work well on a 1.8l. the porsch's back in the day had a 2.3l with that turbo and were makeing around 220-230 hp, so i belive it would work pritty good on a b18, but they are only efficient up to 15 psi or so.

Re: KKK turbo

i got a brand new KKK24 turbo from the Volvo S60R model that is flow prepped...

im going to use it on my D16A9 engine that im building!

some say it can produce up to 400hp on the crank... so if its a myth i will definitly bust it! ;)

im going to take the A9 to its limits im really curious how much it can deliver!

sorry for the offtopic! but i think you should go with a bigger turbo tough

The flanges for a KKK turbo are difficult enough for me to not want to play with them.

only the k3 and k4 have that funky traingle flange. The k26/28 came on the late 80s/90s Audis and Porches. Its similar in size to a t3 and has a square flange. They are a bitch to pull though.
