Default kkk ko3 turbo..

hey guys,

starting to put ---- together to live the force fed life, my friend has a KO3 turbo from a 1.8T swap he just did, I was thinking it might be a pretty good turbo to use on my motor since its a 1.5L and the ko3 was built for a 1.8L, I was originally going to go with a T25 from a SR20, but this might just work instead.. do any of you have any thoughts/ opinions on this snail? my VW friend told me they wear out and aren't very reliable though.

I'm using one on my 1.6 sohc (8valve) mazda motor, and it was exactly what the Dr. ordered. I'm running 6 pounds all the time and sometimes push it up to 7. I get boost at 2,500 rpms in second and it never runs out of steam...I can't of course, speak to the condition of your buddy's used one, but I can recommend that a k03 will service that eng. without straining.
Can I ask what he's asking for it? And is it the one with 3 or 4 bolt downpipe flange?

oh nice, yeah i'll be strapping her onto a 1.5 12valve sohc tercel motor, so i guess its about "similar" to what you have in one way or another.. I'll try and find myself a compressor map, but if you say its never running out of steam then thats also a good sign thanks!

he's asking 150 for it with the manifold, but i'd have to ask about the DP flange.

I may be wrong, but I don't think that mani will work for your application, but you might be able to "market" it, if he's going to include it.
Those Audi/vw's 1.8 engines are like a 20 valve confg. Those guys are always crying about running out of top end boost...these set-ups weren't really designed to be autobhan smashers like say an S8

Go here for some compressor maps, and print out the k04 as well!

K03's are very small turbos, but the good thing about that is you'll spool up fast and you can always upgrade it by putting a K04 turbine in them or buy a used one which is called a K03 sport and does anyone know if a K03 would go good with a 2L mk3 Jetta?

Go up a couple of posts and see the link I posted to the compressor maps, there's maps of the k04 as well as the 3's, you can compare them.
