Keep blowin turbos WTF
 
okay my buddy bought a set up for his ls it had a turbonetic some thin that lasted three days (shaft got tons of play). So then he gets a brand new garrett t4 of a f350 diesel that lasted about two weeks (broken shaft). The last one was a spw?? rebuilt with garrett internals t3/t4 almost a good month the and the shaft broke. I am wonderin what the hell he is doin wrong gets perfectly good almost new turbos and they keep braking. Any suggestions would be nice. I dunno what the ---- to tell him.

is he running an oil line into them? is he feeding too much/too little oil?

I was thinkin to much oil it's a straight feed from the pressure sender with a 1/8" braided hose. Don't think about the bov it's a egay knock off 50mm. Oil return is a 5/8" hose I believe ran perfect no kincks nothin. I'm tryin to help him out cause I never hear from him till somethin brakes and he wants me to fix it.

A weak BOV won't hurt a turbo.
No BOV and moderate boost pressure can damage the compressor and stress the bearings.
Too little oil can result in shaft play.
Poor tuning can cause EGTs that eat bearings alive.

The only way you'll begin to tell is by taking those turbos apart and figure out why they failed.

---- I want though a few turbos my self, the first to much shaft play to start with, then second was to much oil pressure, and the rest where junk I had laying around. :8

return is big enough the ------ idiot took the return line and put a air hose fitting on it to go into the oil pan

bov have nothing to do with blowing turbos, i havent had a bov for over 6 months, and beat the ---- out of my car everysingle day.

Snapped shafts, fragged wheels, and excessive bearing wear can be a result of too much compressor surge on any turbo. Tell him to try a more realistic match for his engine. Stuffing 10lbs of ---- into a 2lbs sack doesn't fit.

ujust your bov all the way out.if that doesnt do it make sure you have a oil restrictor in. if that doesnt work make sure your draiin line has no kinks and is flowing downward.some guys put the drain right at the bottom of the oil pan thats bad.it wont drain right.i put minr about 1 inch bellow thw top of the pan and it works great.if none of those work get a rope.lol jk

why the rookie tell me to get a rope all my boosted projects work I dunno what all he does he just calls me when he needs another turbo. So yup my ls is almost done

So then get your FRIEND a rope... ::)

Many of the 'jDm eBay y0!' bov's have much too heavy of a spring, so if thats not opening like it should (the second it feels vacuum on its vac fitting), he'll get surge which can bouce the shaft around like a little girl in a mash pit - and do just as much damage. Also make sure his BOV is even connected to a manifold vacuum source - I've seen some people with it connected right to their turbo compressor housing! There truely are some people that could benifit from jumping off a balcony with a rope around their neck...
