JUST FINISH INSTALLING MY TURBO SET UP>>>NEED HELP!!!

ok i just finish installing it, all i need to do are 450cc injectors and ecu chipped with uberdata (plan to get this when i get some more money, dont worry i dont drove the car.)

my question is....i know hondas ecu arent made to see boost so if i start the car, would it show any boost on teh boost gauge?
i started the car just to make sure it would and it did, the turbo spools and everything but my gauge doesnt show boost, it just still shows vacuum. like i said its stock ecu, no check valves or missing links and i just started it to make sure it would start, but without all this would it show boost on the gauge or do i have the gauge installed wrong.

i have the gauge ran to a vacuum source on the manifold and a t fitting ofcorse.

but like i asked im thinking it wouldnt show boost and i just want to make sure, thanks.

also the BOV, do i just run that to a vacuum source also???

thanks.

heares pics of the set up, the hoses are gona be replace (ones by the manifold, there just temps) rest of teh hoses...u cant see....are high temp turbo hoses.

you only get boost when your putting a load on the engine ( ie. driving it) so thats probably why you are not seeing any boost numbers.

or you have a massive leak/ disconnected hose in the charge piping.

hope this helps

if your just starting the car, of course you wont see boost. if your car idled in boost that would be kinda interesting. your fine. it should be in vaccum. when you rev the engine in neutral it will also show vaccum. once you put it into gear and drive it, the turbo will create boost and you will have a + manifold pressure that is shown on your boost gauge. looks good man, what your complete setup?

if im correct...i see your valve cover breather hole hooked into your charge pipe...u need to disconnect that because when u hit boost it will shove boost pressure into your crank case and cause major problems...i learned that the hard way and now i have to fix my problem.

learn from the wise

no problem with that at all. aslong as you don't put water in there when you wash the engine. i'd just put a breather filter on it so it would'nt suck up and dirt and also dirt has a way of getting into things. and your cams, valves, etc are in there and they don't like dirt. they even sell breather filters at walmart now.

all man, thanks. like the other guy said, can i just disconnect it?
or can i run a oil catch tank, i have one but i never installed it

Re:JUST FINISH INSTALLING MY TURBO SET UP>>>NEED HELP!!!

disconnect it. remove those tubes that connect the valve cover to the charge pipe. plug the hole in the charge pipe from the breather. and put a breather filter directly on the valve cover breather tube. you don't need a catch can. unless you have a 400hp monster.

cool, thanks man, i really appreciate that, all the research ive done and i havent or know one told me about this. i just looked back at a few other turbo set ups on other cars (honda's) and i notice they were disconnected.....damn..., thanks again

with the proper catch can setup you can lower the amount of oil fumes inside the motor, effectivly increaseing the octane of the fuel, which is good for detionation. Its not really necessiary but it might be somethin to think about since you allready have one.

Re:JUST FINISH INSTALLING MY TURBO SET UP>>>NEED HELP!!!

another thing...unhook that PCV valve hose from the intake manifold....plug that hole....u will have boost going into that pipe and thru ur pcv valve and into ur crank case shoving pressure out of your valve cover breather hose that is attached to ur upper charge pipe....make a crank case breather system like the dsm guys do...out of a small folgers coffee can and spray paint it black...never...i meen never let any boost pressure get into the crank case or BOOM will happen after awhile.

louie

i tell ya what...good thing i had an extra motor...cause i blew out my pistons rings because of this and it fucked that motor....i learned the hardway

Re:JUST FINISH INSTALLING MY TURBO SET UP>>>NEED HELP!!!

yeah, i did that yesterday, thanks again, i didnt even know that...

for the Gude cam, its not necessarily a turbo cam, i had it already installed way before i decided to go turbo

Re:JUST FINISH INSTALLING MY TURBO SET UP>>>NEED HELP!!!

you'll get boost in your crankcase if you have a bad pcv valve. i installed a new one in my car just incase. the pcv valve is a one way valve that will let air out of the crank case when the car is in vacuume and it won't let air in when the car is in boost. pcv valves last a long time. i replaced the one in my wifes' car 3 weeks ago and it's a 96' and the pcv valve was stil good but it just had alot of oil sludge inside, that was the original pcv valve, it was never replaced before.
