Default Just bought Turbo Kit, PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey, whats up everybody. I just bought a turbo kit yesterday from some guy off Craigs List. Its a Greddy TD04H, no shaft play, a Greddy Log Manifold, looks good also, steel braided feed line, return line was just regular hose, HKS blow off valve, front mount intercooler, a little bent in some places but overall looks good, a downpipe that the guy says was from a CRX but there seems to be a couple of problems though. First the piping looks like it wont fit on the turbo side unless I unbolt the turbo from the manifold and turn it the other way, but anyway. The kit also came with a boost gauge, and some weird thing that the guy said was a Vortech FMU, but to me it doesnt seem like that, its this weird looking round thing, that has 2 fittings that look like are for fuel, probably 1 for feed and one return, and theres also a little fitting thats smaller and looks like a gauge or something hooks up to not sure what it is so if someone could tell me I would appreciate it. Finally, it also came with some really crappy Home Depot made charge piping, so looking to get new piping, if anyone knows where I can get that I would also appreciate that very much.

So Im looking to find out if this was all bought at an ok deal or if I got ripped off. Ill probably just need to get a new downpipe and new charge piping to make it all work ok. I bought the kit for $450. Any advice would be appreciated. Everyone please be honest I really want to know if I got ripped off, hope not.

Idiots like this shouldn't be allowed to have turbo's. Do research first and learn a little about what you're getting in to...

Bashing noobs is what HMT is about. Seriously tho, go through every forum and read every sticky and read every bit of info you can before you even THINK about throwing that on your car. The more you read, the more you will understand what is involved. Its alot more work to NOT blow your engine up than you think.

Read read read, and good luck!

I used to have that same kit. the compressor(inlet) side of the turbo should be on the left hand side of the engine bay if your looking at it from the front.(if you had the hood open, looking in). Definitely get rid of that shitty charge piping. You can use the FMU for now, but once you get the setup running i would suggest upgrading to a chipped ecu. but don't worry about that yet. that kit is supposed to come with a piggyback management system but something tells me that is long gone.

You have a long way to go, I started by buying a kit a year ago like you did, I paid $300 for it, after I read on here I realized it was not the setup for my motor, sold it to some ricer at a car show for 500 bucks. I started over and am finally ready (i hope), I put my car up and started my install finally a coupple of days ago. Not saying that it will take you a year, but you should def spend some time reading, theres alot more than you think that goes into turbocharging your car. the little things are going to add up and cost alot in the end.

That fmu is pretty much junk, you can use it for now and prolly be ok but like reactone said you should look into chipping your ecu, if you sell that fmu you can prolly make enough to buy a chip kit, and a chip burner. its much safer and will yeild much more power with a good tune.

dont buy a turbo kit and expect it all to fit, you may have some issues and need to modify/get a new downpipe.

you will need to have a catchcan or another plan so you can keep vaccum in your crankcase, search on here there is plenty of info on pcv.

ooh and if you ask stupid questions be prepared to be flamed, just warning you, theres a search button and behind it the answer to 99.9% of any question you could ever have about turbo'ing your honda. No one is going to spell everything out for you but everyone is here to learn and help.

your welcome for being nice. now do some reading
