Just bought a turbo kit ...I think the turbo may be bad!!! PICS!!!!

ok...I just got my turbo kit off a guy in cali. After examining the turbo my conclusions are this.
1) No shaft play at all
2)No oil leakage signs anywhere
3)THE F*CKING THING IS CRACKED BY THE WASTEGATE!!!!(Please see pics!)
-Can this turbo be used as is?
-If not can this be "welded" in any fashion?

4. Am I missing the gasket that goes between the exhaust side of the turbo, and the downpipe? see pic.."where the studs are with nuts on them", does this need a gasket here?

P.S. The guy told me the turbo will work fine in this condition...What do you guys think?

Yeah that turbo is fine to use. It sucks it cracked and its just going to get worse but ---- happens. Its not worth trying to repair the housing cause you can probably just get another for the price of fixing it.

Yeah your technically missing that gasket but 80% of people on this site (including me) don't use gaskets for the turbo to downpipe.

Is that a supra turbo? You can probably use it but it won't last long; then your turbo will be in two pieces...

That's either a Volvo or renault t3 turbo.

Just like all oter 5 bolts garrett T3 turbines, a weakness in Garrett's design makes it crack with thermo cycling.

If you are gonna use an external wastegate, the block off flange will cover the crack and it will have no effect on the turbo performances.
If you use the internal wastegate, this is gonna cause an exhaust leak that is affecting your power and your spool up.
You should at a minimum "patch" this crack with exhaust cement or, much better, excavate it thoroughly and weld it. The weld beat may crack immediately when it cools down. if it happens, grind it and weld again.
Then, you machine the flange flat with a belt grinder.

The cracks dont look that bad. If it was mine, id just use it. Then try and find a cheap used housing.
