junkyard vacuum pump

So i want to hook up a vacuum pump to the back of my block to the black box for the pcv valve and one end to the valve cover with a catch can in between the pump.

So my question is what cars come with a vacuum pump stock that would work good for this idea i could just snatch one from the junkyard.. I think some old cadillac's had them but not sure if they would work.

Re: junkyard vacuum pump

I think any diesel vehicle should have one, because they don't have a throttle plate so they don't produce vacuum. The vacuum pump on one was used for the brake booster and other vacuum accessories.

oo ----! Damn. I never thought of that. That true. I will have to check out some old school benz's in the junkyard.

only problem im finding now is that most of them especially diesel ones are mechanically operated.. I need a 12volt powered one.

yeah you'd have to fab something up to connect it to the pully syetem.

Re: junkyard vacuum pump

i think some of the turbo coupes used them. but i dont think a vacuum pump is gonna provide enough flow to operate a crankcase evac system. it would prolly build pressure b/c of not enough flow. why dont you just get a header mounted vacuum tube and run it like that, they sell them at jegs and summit for like $40.

here you go http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...10002_39414_-1
. you would only need one, but i guess you could hook up a friend or something. just make sure you at least run a pcv valve, and preferably a check valve like this:

remember the only item for sale is the circled one
