Junkyard Intercoolers (What cars to look for?)
Just wondering if we could start a list of cars to look for while going to a junkyard for cars that we could use intercoolers approximately what size they are. Even possibly just create a list of cars that have useful parts for any of us Turbo builders.
As of right now I only know of.... 2000 and up 1.8 Turbo VW's - IC is about 1ft x 2ft |

Mitsubishi Starions and Chrysler Conquests have nice factory coolers, as well as the new Lancer Evos.

Go steal a front mount from one of those new SRT4's. They are ------- huge and i bet would flow nicely.

The srt4 ic's aparently max out at like 250 hp or something like that. My girlfreinds step bro has one and just replaced it with this fucker http://www.srtforums.com/forums/show...threadid=20514 crazy.

The SRT IC LOOKS HUGE, but really isn't that big, its very short and very long, but its almost impossible that it maxes out at 250Whp, b/c SRTs normally dyno at close to 250Whp from the factory..
Dodge lied, but its a good thing... Kinda.... Dodge also claims it goes 0-60 in 5.6sec, but its much faster, more like 5.1sec.. The volvo Ic is also too damn big to fit in a civic IMO, anyone wanna buy one ?? Hehe.. Here's a few.. http://www.turbomustangs.com/intercoolers.htm |

Just look for ic's that are all alu. they are usually ok

oh man there are lots of cars.....
mistibishi eclipses and STARIONS (the best stock fmic in my o2, not counting the new srt and evo 8 ic's) some volvos have a fmic that is black and is about the same size as the starion but it has plastic black endtanks, should work for hmt though look for any newly destroyed evo 8's and srt-4's to take those bad ass intercoolers off grand nationals have fmic's also if you can find em...they are big but no where as big as some of those powerstroke diesel's find all the turbo cars you can and take off all the turbos, intercoolers, bov's, injectors, and charge piping!! all this will make great hmt projects!!! |

The GN IC is pretty good, about like a strion, but the volvo IC with plastic end tanks is a lot bigger than a starion, but its so thin, that is it pointless to make it fit ( which is just about impossible without hacking the entire front end... ).

We must be talking about different Volvo ICs.. The One I have is just huge HxL but its about 1'' thick..

either way....for a stock intercooler and the money, you cant beat the starion fmic!! its just great!! its almost like an aftermarket front mount but for hundreds less!! but for $250 you cant beat a custom coach ic either!

oh yeah, my bad! i was actually talking about the audi front mount ic that is almost the same size as the starion but is black with plastic endtanks....

before I bought my cc intercooler I was thinking about renting a new CDI benz, and steal the intercooler, and put a pipe in place of it. I wonder how long will it took for them to find out, since the car rentals only check for clean, and dents.

Well I went to a junkyard today and the had a Turbo MX-6 there with the turbo and IC still on...when I asked what they wanted for these peices they said $200 for the turbo and $45 for the IC. You guys think thats a decent price for the IC off that car?
