JDM D15b Vtec and boost.

Anyone know the compression of the D15b Vtec ? It't basically a D16z6, right ? So it should take the boost pretty well? Does it have decent sized rods ? Use the P28 ECU for this right ? Trying to decide to get a d16z6 or the D15b. I'm thinking mroe towards the D15b due to the fact that it has lower miles on it, that is if i actaully get one with the 40k miles that they claim they have.

D15B comp. ratio is 9.3:1 Use a P28 chipped. The rods are pencil sized like most D15's, just don't hit it to hard and it will be fine.

stay under 10psi-and it better be well tunned.

d15b's love boost, and they're cheaper and less miles than any z6 you'll find

they are thicker than d15s and have a larger big end, they are similar to z6 rods. but i wont fuel that arguement anymore than it already is even though i have the pics and measurements to prove it :D

And stock Z6 rods are pencil like too. We all know d-rods are weak, no matter what motor. Keep it under 10psi, tune it well and happy boosting.

I think the most i'll run is 7 psi on a 14b. So i should be okay. I'll get a wideband and just read up on the Uberdata forum and see what kinda tune that gets me.

Agreed.

Also, I don't think there is a magical "psi" to where it should be safe. It's all in the tuning and how you drive it. Obviously pulling up a hill in 5th gear running 16psi on a T3/T4 is going to be pushing the limits of the stock motor a little bit.

i ripped on a d15b for about 8 months and it loved turbo.

my spark plug wires got in a fight with my pistons and broke some ringlands though.

If they were the same price I would go d16z6, if not go with the cheaper one :P

what kinda compression am i lookin at with a z6 head and a6 block? i was worried about high compression and looking into 8.5:1 pistons but i said ---- it , i wanna run 10psi on stock internals running uberdata.. ive been told it should be fine if shes "well Tuned" ..lol besides i have 8 extra pistons layin around ;)

I'm not a big fan of d15's at all, the 1.6's have more grunt and have cheaper aftermarket rods. All d-series stock rods sucks dick.
