jb welding the oil return fitting?
 

i have a brassnipple from stealths kit, i was gonna drill a hle in the pan a bit smaller than the threads, thread the fitting in, then put jb weld around it on the outside, will it hold? or is this just a temporary fix? anyone done this and had it last? i could weld something i suppose....

that's what i did with mine only b/c i fucked it up welding it and blasted throught the pan and made the hole too big, so mine is basically filled and sealed with jb weld and has been fine for over 3k miles, i check it every couple days and it's still flawless. just make sure you mix the jb weld perfectly and let it sit over night, don't use that 'kwik weld' jb weld ---- either, the heat ratings aren't as hight as the regular ----.

how about this? I brought this at McMaster, the nut will definitely hold it in place. just put some silicone to seal it or teflon tape on the threads.

just jb weld it, I did, it works for me and TONS of other people, so it will work great for you too!

that looks like it may be a litte small, but either way, it still won't seal around the threads completely and even if you use it, i would still seal the outside with jb weld for some extra insurance. what is the id of that fitting?

Not to contradict what projekteg is saying, different things work and don't for different people. My fitting is an -AN fitting that gets held on by a nut just like that brass fitting pictured does, i put a rubber o ring inbetween the pan wall and fitting on the outside and it doesn't leak. If you're looking for a way to do the oil return without welding I would do the "fitting held on by bolt" method and just use an o ring inbetween.

It's a 3/8 ID, like the barbs that stealthmode sell with his kits. I have a 1/2 ID one, but ---- is way too big. I was thinking about slapping a O-ring or make a paper gasket, if that fails I would do what all people do, JB WELD that bitch... ;D

I really like that mcmaster fitting combination. Good idea. Just make sure you use the permanent threadlock stuff on both threads, you don't want that bolt falling off in your oil pan. Also, put some silicon or jb weld on the outside of the pan before you bolt the fitting down so there aren't any leaks there.

I would say ---- the JB weld, take it to a welding shop, spend $10-30 bucks and sleep well at night. I JB welded mine but I check it all the time. I've had terrible luck with that ---- in the past. Sorry but I'm a JB weld basher. Do that crap well the fist time and worry about something else like the national economy rather than your car running out of oil while you drive because the freakin JB weld didn't hold.
