Default JB weld for oil return line

o.k. since I can't weld to save my life someone recommend and I've seen alot where to use JB weld for the oil pan return line. Now I have a flange off a 1.8T VW ( I love being a tech. you get all kinds of free useful stuff )so I'm just going to drill the three hole's for the flange . One for the line and the two for the bolts that connect the flange to the pan. What do I do with the JB Weld... just put it all over the edge of the flange. I'm thinking since it's a flange and it uses a gasket in between the flnage and the pan I might not have to weld at all but I may just use some JB just to be safe or in cause it leaks. Is that all I have to do ? Sorry if this may seem to be a stupid question I've just never had to use this stuff before.

It'll work. Just make sure you give it enough time to dry.

Just mix the hardener/glueing agent and get something like a dowl to get the JB weld on, then apply little patches of it around the thicker parts of the flange. It will hold, and hold, and hold :P

Exactly what I did. I also used it on my oil pan and intercooler pipe. ---- works great.

Won't the solder get too hot and melt off?

I wouldn't consider solder.

Yes, jbweld rocks. I was out of welding braid, so I used jbweld on my intercooler and to which has been tested past 20psi. It's important that you clean the surface first before using the jbweld especialy if it's been painted... clean it off.
