jb weld oil lines?
 

when i am installing my oil lines should i put jb weld on the threads or just tighten them as tight as i can? how do you guys seal them i dont want leaks like last time i put them in and then i jb welded around it not in the threads and still had leaks..

..do not use jb weld :o just use teflon tape always worked for me

I Couldn't source the proper fitting for my 14b, so I found one that was "Close" but a little lose. I Put JBWeld on it and threaded it it. Worked Great. But for a proper fitting connection, use Teflon Tape, Plumbers Dope(a pencil like paste you rub on) or thread sealant for companies that make RTV Sealants.

I you do use JBWeld and fear not getting the connection apart ever, A PropaneTorch on the connection of a few Seconds works wonders!!

My threads were a bit dodge, So i spun them up as tight as they went with teflon on the threads, and then surrounded the head with the stuff. Should be alright, Havent given it a go yet. I'm more worried about my actual oil line...


BTW this is for the motor fittings only, GET PROPER FITTINGS FOR THE TURBO

JB weld is OK for use in the head to fix dumb porting mistakes, or making an oil pan return. Don't use it on something that's actually hot like the turbo. That'd be a bad idea over time! Epoxy both cures & uncures with heat!

Use anti-sieze or rtv on the threads. Don't use teflon tape. It's stringy and could come unstrung and block the oil passage. The threads really don't need anything more than anti-sieze.
The two things that people tend to pull out the torque wrench when they shouldn't is the block fitting into the block, and the hose ends onto the fittings. I don't know why, but people think all this ---- needs to be on like an axle nut. :P

teflon tape.. i never had any problems.. dont use jb weld.. hehe
