Internal wastegate question

Can you dril and tap the back part of an internal wastegate actuator? and by back I mean the part were the arm comes out.

Did you break the acuator arm off? ::) Don't puncture the diaphragm or your not going to want to run that gate. I don't think it's a really GOOD idea, but I'd wait for more opinions because someone may have done it before. However, I doubt it.

Do bolts go UP inside of it or are they coming OUT of it and you use nuts to fasten it? If they are bolts I'd say yes, but be very careful not to rip the diaphragm as if you do it will cause the earth to catch on fire and head towards Alpha Centuri and we'll all die.

Re: Internal wastegate question

You can do it, but that metal is pretty thin and there might not be enough to tap. Make sure you don't put the bolts in too far and make sure you put something on the threads to seal it.
