turbos generate lots of heat, intercooler cools the charge of air going to the engine, cooler air is less prone to detonation which breaks engines

compressed air is hotter than un-compressed air. that is why you also see sc setups with ic's.

Alky will also cool your air charge.

hmm, i have a dsm smic and well, i cut it apart to make it a fmic and its full of trash. Oil and metal shards, the motor had blown up and the turbo was busted into peices, alot of the shards got into the intercooler. I tried cleaning it out, but im worried something will get inside my motor.

would it be ok to temporarly run w/o an intercooler for a few weeks, @ 4 psi?

Colder Air = More Condesnesed Air Molecules

This in turn mean's more HP. Why? Since the molecules are smaller there are more in a given volume then a non-intercooled set-up. More air = more power.
