Default Intercooler pipe

If an intercooler has 1.75" inlet pipe, Could I cut that out and put 2.5" in? My intake is like 2.5" So wouldnt 1.75" be to small?

I would definitely go bigger than 1.75, that's too small, 2.5 is a great size.

im using reducers on the end of my ic to transfer to a bigger diameter, rather than cutting off the endtanks, but either way works.

uhm guys. having a fitting that goes to 1.75 to 2.5 is useless it aint gonna let any more air through then the 1.75 so the 2.5 piping is a waste of money..

its like putting a 1" to 3" on your hose and thinking its gonna fill that entire 3".. not gonna happen.

Ya I understand that, All I'm saying is the intercooler going to be ok with bigger holes than what it was made with. What I would do is cut the old 1 3/4" pipe out and weld in 2.5" pipe.
Would that be ok on the intercooler.

for how many cFM your running 1.75 would prolly suffice.

pplus having to big of a pipe reduces velocity

so does that mean that having larger diameter charge pipes than the inlet and outlet (clean air) on my turbo is pointless. I have an IHI and I thought that exact same thing: how anything larger than the smallest pipe is kinda usleless. If thats true then all of my charge pipes should be 1.75 because the turbo and the intercooler are both 1.75. I wasted money on 2.25 didn't I.
