intercooler

my friend offered me 2 SAAB cores and he said just to make the end tanks. I only have a wire-fed mig with the gas tank. I am not sure how good this would work. and what materials would work the best for the end tanks. I was reading on how to put the end tanks on...i just line it up with the line from the core and welk it on the end so i get the total seal right? well...if any one can help....its all good....i am a noob so if u flame me...dont forget to help.

I don't know ---- about welding, nor do I know much of anything about intercoolers...so if I'm wrong, don't get excited...

Anyways, I would assume the cores are aluminum? And... you can't weld two different metals together can you? (steel & aluminum)
