integra gsr turbo questions

i am planning to rebuild my engine this winter and i am wanting to slowly get a budget turbo setup together i bought a garrett t-25 and a set of evo injectors and rail of a guy i know i gave 50 for the turbo and 100 for the injectors and rail the turbo has a pretty good amount of shaft play and i was wondering if i would need to take it somewhere to get rebuilt or could i do it on my own? also would it be worth rebuilding?

Hey man im boostin my gsr soon and from what I've researched a t25 isn't really worth putting on there. it will run out of breath on high end.. I was gonna go this route also since t25s are so available but now i have a t3t4 57 trim

the only parts i see missing from this kit is both intake and exhaust wheels and the turbo shaft....

$47 + $4.80 for shipping seems pretty reasonable to me IMO.

i dont really know how to explain how much but you can move it to where theres a gap between the wheel and housing and its really tight on the other side but it is not enough for them to come in conact with each other if that makes since?

METZWRX 12-10-2010 05:01 PM

well im not for sure, but it sounds like its not completley shot. i hate to say it, but i think the only way you'll find out is to put it on and see what it does. that way you can check it while the car is idling and see if there are any leaks from the seals or see if the compressor wheel is hitting the housing. dont put on the the intake pipe, that way if it breaks, it wont shoot pieces of metal into your engine. if the wheel is hitting the housing you should be able to hear it. so listen for any strange sounds.

that is what i would do. good luck!

would a t25 off a dsm be too small for my b18c1? i have heard some people say it would be good and others say it wont flow well enough in the higher rpms but they come stock on 2.0 engines? and also will those injectors be okay for my setup?

once oil pressure is applied to the turbo the clearence will be reduced. cap the oil drain with your finger. fill the oil feed hole with oil. put another finger over the oil feed hole and press to make pressure. you should see most of the clearence go away. all journal bearing turbos have play. as long as there is no wheel contact to the housing or major front to back play you should be good.

key word is stock!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the mfg makes turbo vehicles to be reliable and meet emmisions. they use small turbos and tune for safety. mfg's are not in the business of replacing engines for free.

ive used the t25 on many motorcycle turbo builds but for a car application they just dont make the power most people want. i would go with a t3/t4, t28 or a gt30

garrettrauch 12-12-2010 10:22 PM

what kinda of prics would a be looking at for those turbos i dont have alot of money to spend because im in high school and work as much as i can out of school

METZWRX 12-13-2010 11:00 AM

if your going to run low boost i say go for it. it will spool very quickly and be nice for a street turbo. but if your looking for more top end power, you might look at something different. i really liked my t3/t4 50 trim turbo. just for an alternative example.

busa4 12-13-2010 11:27 AM

you can find them in good used condition for 300-500

METZWRX 12-13-2010 11:30 AM

cheapest t25 i could find was a new unit ebay brand for like $210... but i have seen junkyard t25's going for like $50 +. they also had t3/t4 50 trim's on ebay for like $108- $182 buy it now.

the ones your referring to on ebay are not garrett turbo's, there knock offs. true used good condition garrett turbo's go for 300-500.00. do an ebay search for garrett and you will see the difference.

METZWRX 12-13-2010 12:19 PM

yes i understand they are. i put in my post that they were "ebay". he said he wanted cheap so ebay is as cheap as they come! haha. sorry for the confusion

m0uaman 12-16-2010 10:09 AM

dont do t-25...i did a 16g and only made 197hp on 6psi...get a t3/t4 turbo...if you plan to buy a rebuild kit try buying from ilovetacotaco...when i bought a rebuild kit for my other 16g he send me a brand new EVO3 turbo
