Intakemanifold question
I have a question about that cool looking Venom style intake someone on this board made.I have looked at the pictures and I cant see what you did about the idle air valves on the back of the stock intake. Did you leave it off, and if you did does that cause a check engine light, or did you hook it back up in some way.I have a 90 civic si and it has two valves on the back of the manifold. I am new to all of this so thanks for any help in advance.

Re:Intakemanifold question
He doesn't run an EACV.. He raises his idle through the idle air screw on top of the throttle body..
As for the check engine line.. Probably just puts a peice of eletrical tape over it. ;D |
Re:Intakemanifold question
Are you kiding about the check engine light? This is the part that bothers me the most, doesent the computer go in to a fixed fuel and timming mode when the CEL light is on? Isnt this bad for performance, engine longevity and fuel economy? particularly with forced induction!

Re:Intakemanifold question
its better to just pull out the light bulb ::) doesnt look as ghetto as the tape ;D

Re:Intakemanifold question
Ok the running the current back to the ECU thing will fool the ECU into thinking its still hooked up, but wont it still set a light when the ECU tries to change the idle and nothing happens? I had this problem on a 92 Accord I had once when I blocked the EGR valve vacuum line. The computer expected to see the O2 in the exhaust change when it opened the EGR, when it didnt change, bang CEL.
