Default :(I'm Skint!

I am absolutely skint (no money) at the moment after just spending about £1000 ($1600) on a replacement engine and suspension for my Civic ESi (D16Z6). I want to turbo it and was delighted with your site and the info it provided. Now since I have no money I want to get as much bhp safely with as little money as possible. They dont sell Eclipse Turbos over here in the UK, but I know that a Nissan 200sx (Possibly called the 240sx over in the US) has a T25. Do you get the exhaust manifold from a 1.6 CRX non vtec twin cam or will the standard manifold work (albeit with a bit of grinding?). With stock everything, and an intercooler, how much boost would you reccomend, not forgetting that in the UK we get 98RON fuel. How easy is it to adjust the wastegate on T25's?

Ta very much
Ron

Ron, The T-25 that you are refering to is the JDM style T25 from SR20DET's. The flange that T-25 uses, is a basic T-3 flange. So making an adapter plate is going to be pretty simple for you.

(I dont know if the t-25 wastegate actuator is adjustable, or what its factory setting is even at?)

Which manifold...

You have 3 choices, CX/STD/HF

HF manifold (88-91 crx hf)
STD manifold (88-89 civic std)
CX manifold (92-95 CX) and some others

I dont know which model cars they came on, over in EDM land, or even on JDM cars.. But they are around.. check your junkyards for any of these manifolds (precat style).. they are all basically the same thing. the STD has slightly larger runners.. and they will bolt right to your d16z6.

Fuel managment needs, I would go with a simple rising rate regulator (FMU) and you should be fine fro 5-7 psi.. especially with your high octane over their..

Good luck,
Jeff

correct me if im wrong, but isnt the STD the one of the largest ports originally...and requires the least amount of porting and grinding??

Yes Dane, in my post above, I explain how the STD has larger runners compared to the others...

Porting on the CX/HF manifold is not absoultly required, but is a good thing to do. It doesnt take longer then 15 mins with a good die grinder and carbide bit.
