IHI RHB5 : where do you get fresh air for it?

I would like to know where do you get your fresh air because i don't want to have too hot air and water when it rain.

i think he is wanting cold/fresh air for the turbo to suck in...right? it doesnt matter, the turbo will compress the air and make it hot either was, just run an efficant intercooler...

you could just route a charge pipe off the inlet of the compressor housing to the fender well side of the car similar to a cold air intake, to suck in nice fresh air, rather than the engine bay hot air.

I was thinking to put it on the front of the bumper, but someone told me that when it rain, if the water reach the compressor, this can make dommage to the turbo, so really don't know where to put it...

well, it's going to be coming from your exhaust via your turbo EXHAUST manifold ::)

I think he wants to know where your piping goes(?) I ran mine into the passanger side wheelwell. Had to cut a hole and make a run to Home Depot, but it works great with no probs of water getting into it.

I've got mine in the corner behind the headlight on the drivers side where the overflow tank goes. Move the overflow tank to the batterside, and you'll get alright cool air coming around the headlight.

I ran a flex pipe to the pass side inner fender, below where the airbox is. then cut out the fog light hole in the bumper to feed it cold air. been driving rain here all week without problems.

turbowagonman, that's a good place to have a filter but if it's raining hard, it will have the same effect as a constant water injection... the neat thing about it is the fact that when you boost, the water will atomize off the blades of the turbo, and cool the intake charge and evaporate before it gets to the motor (while boosting hard).. really. But most people belive that water before the turbo is a bad thing because of the speed the turbocharger spins it will damage the compressor over time... I can't say for sure because I haven't had any experience in that area yet... I personally would have my fliter away from the rain... that turbo doesn't need ram air.. it will get the air it wants :) and with it out of the engine bay it's not getting the hot air, so just having the filter down there is a good idea, but I would have left that hole closed... You're getting more power in the rain for sure, but if it's alot it will most certainly damage the turbo compressor over time. It's all up to you.

i'm planning to put the filter between the windsheal washer and the fake fender(sorry a don't know what is the name so i translate :))
