ignition retard????

Hey, I have a 95 Civic EX D16Z6 and im running a T3/T04B turbo at 7psi with 450cc injectors a 255lph fuel pump and a SAFCII. I was wondering if I am going to have to retard my ignition at all? My friend herd some people say you did and some say you dont.

Re:ignition retard????

Depends on your engine. If it pings you might. You might just be able to change your fuel settings. Different people get different results.

This is in the wrong forum, Mods??

d16tuner is correct. It's in the wrong forum ;) that and the timing issues. Try it at the stock timing and if you notice any detonation, try adding more fuel. If it's still there retard the timing slightly.

I had to do some pretty serious timing retardation, but my friend didn't have to do as much. Listen for detonation.

I have boost creep to almost 9psi.... and have stock timing, and no pinging at all.
Guess it depends on engine. I'm kinda lucky I guess ;)

On the other hand, you have hack, so if yr boost it set at 7psi you might need to retard (hack advances timing, no matter how we quiet are on that note...)

Best way is just to test it...

sorry about posting in the wrong spot i must not have been paying attention. now if for some reason it does ping is it ok to drive it? i would have to drive it to a shop like 20 min. away from my house to get it retarded. how do you actually retard timing?

could you not just retard it at the dizzy while you take it to the shop? how are they going to do it by the way?
