If I hit the boneyard....

My quest for a turbo will soon be on. As some of you know, I plan on running 6-7 psi on my 99 Si, intercooled, 370cc RC injectors controlled by a VAFC.

I was thinking a 14B turbo or a Garrett T3. If I hit the boneyard what kinda cars should I be looking for for a good turbo that would be great for my application??? I know the 14Bs were on 1G DSMs, but what about Garrett T3s? I can't decide which I should go with, I was leaning toward Garrett T3.

Thanks

Well look around at what there is...
Volvo's Saab's 280zx's MX-6's Probes Chryslers Peugeot's
and don't forget Supras
are the ones I've seen turbo's and/or intercoolers on that I can think of off of the top of my head...

The 280ZX's are damn near impossible to remove (i swear to god they are!!) Volvo and Saab's ain't bad, nor are the probe/Mx6... You gotta pull the head to get the Chryslers off (and they're not even worth the effort IMO)

Good luck, I've been around the yards here several times getting the local goods!

Hell yeah.... i spent 10 minutes looking for the little son of a bitch... and then i had to take all these parts off of it... and it still would not come out... so i said ---- that.... I got my Turbo (Air Reaserch (T3 style) from a SAAB 900 it was easy as ---- to remove... since it is not a compact car... there is wide open space... and while your at it... get the oil feed and dump hoses... I got my FM intercooler from an AUDI.. it was fairly easy to remove and its a good decent size 14x7x3.5in...

Props to Ebay for those every day low low prices...

Re:If I hit the boneyard....

Air Research Turbo was 90$ (with all the hoses and ----)
AUDI FMIC was 30$... tell them its an air conditioning condenser or something like that..... if they dont have an intercooler listed on their price lists..
HF Manifold was 18$

Gotta love that damn Pick Your Part.....

If you are looking for a large t3, you will have to be looking for these cars.

Audi (KKK)
Porsche (KKK)
T-bird/Meurker/Mustang SVO
Buick GN

Those are going to be some of the larger T3's off the top of my head. the Saab and volvo turbos are pretty small, but I belive their is one volvo turbo with a .63 housing.
