ideal turbo b16
I know this issue has been brought up a million times but what is the best turbo for a b16 8-10psi daily drivin. I looked at the compressor maps and it looks like the t3/t04b 57 trim 60 ar on the compressor side is the best fit for my engine. What do you guys think; would you recommend another turbo.
My set up is going to look like 450 dsm injectors shitbirds small tubular manifold turboedit CCA fmi dsm bov stock internals |
Re:ideal turbo b16
If youre boosting that high on a stock b16, I'd highly suggest you get a cometic headgasket to at least drop your compression ratio a tad bit. B16 are notorius for their high compression ratio... I think its like 10.2. With the Cometic headgasket drops it down to about 9.5 or lower. Its not going to solve all your problems but it is extra insurance for that HUGE turbo of yours.
Just an FYI I'm running a T3 .60/.48 on my b16 and spools up around 4k and pulls to redline. |
Re:ideal turbo b16
Its not high if you have proper engine management. Im also at 6000' so the air is thinner so me boosting 10lbs is the same as someone boosting 7lbs at sea level. Lower compression head gaskets are gay. Its a cheap crappy way to lower compression but its only a little bit more money to do the job right with pistons. I might save a little more money and get eagle rods and pistons and then up the boost. Whats the best turbo for the b16?

Re:ideal turbo b16
i would go t3/t4 just because a little psi can give u alot of power compared to other smaller turbos
ud probably spool at 4500 |
Re:ideal turbo b16
What trim should i go for. I want to get full boost around the vtec crossover pt or so.

Re:ideal turbo b16
if you're planning to build the motor for boost then just get the T3/T4
Boosting 10psi at 6000ft is the same as boosting 10psi at 0ft! |
Re:ideal turbo b16
If you're going with stock internals, get a smaller turbo.. Not like you're going to ever see 20psi.. a t3/t4 hybrid would be a waste. Not to mention this is sounding kinda budget build, so a cheaper turbo would be better fit for u.

Ambient here in denver 12 psia Ambient at sea Level 14.7 psia at 10psig boost Denver 22psia Sea Level 24.7 psia In denver you can boost 2.7 pounds more and have the same absolute pressure meaning same density assuming temps are the same meaning same power output. The only difference is your compressor is running a slightly higher pressure ratio. Think befor you speak...or at least drive up here in denver and see if you feel a difference. Also im getting my turbo from down2turbo on ebay, rebuilt for like 400 with any wheel i want |
Re:ideal turbo b16
Ive already done the compressor map homework. I was just wonding if someone here has had any real world experience with a similar setup. I was looking for full boost at 5000 RPM
