Ideal Engine

What would the ideal honda engine be for high boost (20psi)
1.6? 1.8? Sohc? Dohc? Vtec? I'm just curious to learn more about these hondas

Re:Ideal Engine

B18c Dohc Vtec ;D

Why?

good R/s Ratio
Decent Size Displacement
Vtec is a beautiful thing
Aftermarket is friendly place to be

Why Not?

B18c's cost to damn much, and thats why alot of us Build B18a/b's or B20's

Re:Ideal Engine

B18B cheapest and best, base horsepower is only 140hp but from the factory they can hold 15psi on stock internals. fully built they can support up to 30psi. the only problem with the Vtec engines is that is alot of pressure and extra force on the Vtec valvetrain......

What is the differnce between the B18C and B18'AB's
To be honest I'm getting rid of all of my junk and i'm going to buy an integra, I plan on boosting it heavaly
I know the gsr comes with the B18-c, or would it be better to get a base model and swap to the B18-c? Lets say I have lots of money what would the best way for me to go about this?

best way to go about it?

if you buying a teg boost the b18a till you blow it up, if you have lotsa cash to burn..

but imo i would buy a shell like a CRX and get a b18c and boost it in there..

if you want speed..

Re:Ideal Engine

Well that kinda helps but still doesnt tell me what the letters mean like B series? is that a year range? or the engine?

Re:Ideal Engine

B is the block.That is the blocks name if you want to make it easyer to understand.So a b16 has less displacement than a b18(Less cubic inches).The leters after the block designation is the head designation(a,b,c1,z6,y7,y8,zc,so on and so on).

Hope that helps.

Re:Ideal Engine

also in lets say b18c1 that would be a usdm gsr engine but a b18c would be jdm think of the letters kinda like families or series u have the D series,B series and so on

Re:Ideal Engine

ya JDM never used y8, z6, a6, c1, c5..

b18c1 = gsr here
b18c5 = type R teg here
b18c = gsr JDM
b18c Spec R = JDM ITR.

Re:Ideal Engine

so is a B18C1 better for FI then a LS/Vtec?

MikeJ-2009 09-09-2003 09:12 PM

Re:Ideal Engine

b18A is 90-93 Integra
b18B is 94-00 Integra

B is the family of motor (dohc). 18 is 1.8 liter

A B18c is just an all around better motor. But, there is nothing wrong with a built ls/vtec, other than a crappy stroke ;)
