IC pressure drop question

I was just wondering the other day:

If your wastegate is set at your desired boost, and your ic drops maybe a pound or so, are you not boosting the amount you thought- how do you regulate this. Just trying to understand this after reading that most ic's have pressure drop. or do you set your wg high and then bleed off undesired pressure through your blow off valve??????? ???

If you're not reaching desired boost, then you make adjustments at the wastegate. The BOV is just to protect the turbo from the air after it bounces off the throttle plate (when you let off the gas) and vents.

If your wastegate is set to...let's say 10 and you're getting a 2psi drop from your intercooler, then you should be seeing about 8 at the manifold as well as on your boost gauge, but it will depend on where you are getting your vaccum/boost source for your wastegate. If you have tapped it from the manifold, then your wastegate will open when the manifold sees 10, hence you have reached the full 10 psi cuz there was no pressure drop. If you have tapped the boost source from the turbo or before the intercooler, it will open when that pressure is 10 and has not taken into account the pressure drop after the intercooler. I don't know if this makes any sense!! hahahaha

Anyway, I did the reverse for my FMU because I have a 5:1 fmu and instead of tapping off the vaccum/boost source from the manifold, I'll be going to the turbine compressor. This way, it should trick the fmu into thinking that there is more boost thus raising the pressure, so instead, it'll be more like a 6:1 or 7:1 fmu.

I've heard that if you tap the manifold pressure for your wastegate instead of the turbo then you won't get boost spikes.
