I searched, I swear. No finds. Catchcan Help

Hi Guys,

I hope you can help me out with this problem. I have an LS/Vtec 90 Integra that's turbo charged with a T3 Super 60. While real estate in the engine bay is becomming harder and harder to find I am having a few issues with a catchcan.

The first place we stuffed it was down inside the fender well (removed windshield wiper resevoir to make room) and I had problems right away. It would fill with oil and then drip everywhere I parked. Recently a friend of mine and I removed it from that location beleiving it was too far "down" in height. Now it is up near the headlight pocket and from regular driving it still fills with oil. There are two lines going into the catchcan with a screw in the bottom to drain it out.

The thought now is to take out the screw and put in a hose fitting and basically "T" into the first two lines in the catchcan to make it drain back into the system. I'm worried about this because the oil in the catchcan (when it fills up) is a beigey puke looking colour. Will that not drain back into my oil pan and wreck things?

If someone could help out with insight or atleast shed some light on the best way to use a catchcan that would be great and very helpful. I've searched both for "catchcan" and "catch can" but that weilded no results.

Thanks for your time,
-Rik

how r u running your lines....i hear that if a vac line from the VC-->catch can-->pre turbo vac source..the vac is soo much that it can suck the oil out of your engine...

you must not have searched very hard, some ppl just run a line from the back of the block to the ground and be done with it.

Your searching skills SUCKS! See link below which came from the FAQ section. Scroll down about 3/4 of the page, and you'll see two options to connect an oil catch can.

you guys kind of missed the point here. he's asking simply if it's ok to have the catch can drain back, because the oil seems to get contaminated once it's in the catch can.

he isn't running any vacuum source, just the two nipples off the back of the block and the valve cover vent.

doug, I think most of the issue is simply humidity in the ambient air contaminating the oil through the filter. with the drainback in place, it won't have anywhere near as much exposure to humidity, and should return just fine.
