I need to tap my oil pan
 

Anyone know somewhere I can get my oil pan tapped in Southern California? I have no means of welding it myself and to tell you the truth i don't know what fitting I need to use, nor where to put it. Any help will be appreciated.

to be honest. it's best to do that part last. Or atleast after the turbo is mounted and you can visually see where the drain needs to go.

with that said.. it doesnt require welding. you can use a flange style oil drain that has a gasket and two bolts/nuts securing it.

where can I get one?

Would I be better off getting someone to weld it?

Or you can use something like D or E on this picture but with a bigger diameter

Homedepot should have some big enough for an oil return line, brass fitting. If you decide to use something like this, make sure you only drill the whole just right so this type of fitting would work. And I would use JB weld around it to make sure it seals good.

im using a fitting from home depot with just some thread sealer around it...no problems

Iv'e got the exact same fitting as DAVCIVIC, and I have no leakage whatsoever. I just drilled the holes out and then use a ---- load of RTV sealant. Just make sure you get the oil pan REALLY clean, otherwise all those metal shavings will ---- up yo engine.

I also used the home depot large (i think 3/4") fitting. I drilled the hole so it was perfect size, forced the fitting to thread itself in, the secured it with the 'nut' that comes off of a BX-style electrical connector. The threads were the exact same size and it works perfect. I Think I might have threw a little bit of blue silicon around the edges just for good measure... but leaks are non exisitant.

It's a good website with a lot of info on how to do this step by step. He used a 1/2 inch adapter. I would not go smaller than this.

I'm buying a stealthmode oil kit, but i thought that didn't come with the oil pan fitting?

Oil pan fitting included. ;) Also, make sure you don't mount the fitting too low. And, try to mount the fitting right in front of a rod. I heard you could restrict the flow if the oil is trying to return with a rod spinning in its path.

used a 1/2 drill then a rat tail to file her down, threaded it in then welded it up.
