i need help with TT'ing my *CARBed* 350 V8 in my S-10.

i'm not too clear on what exactly i need and need to do with TT'ing my CARBed 350 V8.

heres what i think i need and need to do:
-get a boost carb
-get a carb encloser(or make one. since there ALOT of $$$)
-make manifolds
-get 2 turbo's
-oil lines
-piping and couplings
-FMIC

the things i'm getting hung up on are:

-what kind of turbo's should i use?

-how am i going to actuate the wastegates? (i'm thinking of making 'em mechanical. i.e having cables attached to 'em, then to my throttle. so when i step on my gas pedal. i'll be using the wastegates!?!)

-how would i control the boost levels? (would the above ^ thinking take care of that?)

thats all i can think of right now sinces it's about 6am. i'm sure i left out things.

thanks

there is an article in the Turbo Project section that a guy turbo'd his 5.0 mustang. I think he used 2 m10 turbos

Wastegates have a spring in them and let extra gas out when the turbos make enuff pressure to force the spring open. Get a 5 psi wg.

Ur mechanical idea is the most ghetto thing i have ever heard of. Get a manual boost controller or get the Turbo XS dual stage boost controller for around 200 new

wastegates allready are mechanical. They have a spring and a diaphram. lets say you have a 9 pound spring in the waste gate. then it takes 9 pounds of boost to push down the waste gate then it opens to allot pre turbo exaust gas to come out so your turbo is regulated to 9 pounds of boost..... your planing on running boost into a carb? you have to do a draw through method. just like superchargers do. the carb goes pre air compressor and you make a box that goes on the intake plenum so you can hook your charge pipe up to it.

yeah the 5.0 TT project is for a fuel injection setup. what i mean "what kind of turbo's should i use" is: the're diffirent kind of internals. i.e ball bearings, some are oil and water cooled, etc...

i have no vacuum on my S-10 besides the brake booster. to my understanding wastegates need vacuum. right? so i can't hook that part up!! how would i be able to bypass that part of the wastegate?

yes i'm planning on boosting into a carb. but since my V8 isn't fuel injected. i need to buy or make a "complete" carb encloser. meaning that the carb is fully enclosed and all that is out of the encloser is the fuel lines and throttle cable. but i will also need a "boost carb" that is designed for turbo.

thanks

how could you have no vacuum... lol

get some T3 turbos with internal wastegates, you hook up a vacuum line to the wastegate acuators, pressure makes them open.

the carb incloser is stupid, modified your carb or buy one that is modified to accept boost. and you put a bonnet on it. you dont enclose the entire thing

so where do you guys get vacuum when your intake is pressurized due to the turbo forcing the air into it?

The wastegates need to see vacum and pressure from the manifold or charge piping.I have been helping a friend of mine with his turbo Nova project. He is using a MSD boost timing master to pull timing under boost and will be getting a turbo ready Holley from the carb shop I believe they are called. You can do twins or just run a large single like my friend will be as you then just have one downpipe and charge pipe to build.A good resource for turbo small blocks is http://www.turbomustangs.com/smf/ they have a section on sbc as well.

the wastegates dont run on vacuum, when they see boost pressure is when they move.

when you're not in boost you will still have vacuum
