jb weld is the ----.....i have never used it before but it kicks major ass....nothing but good things to say about it...does anyone have any jb weld stories?

my friend blew out a spark plug on his 1978 BMW, but with JB weld, he glued it back in, and it worked just fine!! JB weld is great in a pinch!

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

Im going to be doing the same on the upper pipe ;D

My friend used jb weld on his bov...We were just testing..Banged it with a hammer, kicked it,threw it on the ground and it still is sturdy as ----. I dont know of any "cheap welders" in tulsa so jb weld will do the job.

Will it work on charge piping?

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

dude i am sure it will...that ---- is badass...i will use it on everything, to a point...but it should hold i mean, they are not being used for heavy duty stuff, just to hold compressed air, and it is supposed to hold up to 3000 psi!!!!!!godamn and until u or i run 3000 psi on our hondas i think it will hold.....wouldnt that be cool to tell everyone....yeah i am running 3000 psi on my honda!! ;D ;D ;D

Jb weld is ghetto weld...I dont know if it works on an ic..I always try ---- to see if it works..I always shake my lucky 8 ball for the answer..

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

HECK yeah it works on intercooler...I did mine with it.. STRONG. I've heard of people using it on Bull dozer blocks.. lol

www.geocities.com/siturborex

down at the intercooler section you can see what I did with the jb weld.

MAKE SURE if there's any paint, get rid of it before pasting the jb weld. It hates paint (wont work on paint). Sand it down to pure metal, then work with it.

Curently patching my radiator (3yrs now). Held my shift linkage until I could weld it.

This stuff belongs in the glove box, cause you never know....

This stuff was designed back in the 50s to fix cracks in flat head ford blocks on the salt lake cars, it rocks. I life the original formula(sets over night) for max strength, but JB quck weld is great in a pinch, it sets up in fifteen minutes.

Used it once to plug up a freeze plug on the back of an engine since we didnt want to take it off the car to actually fix it... we just put some of that ---- on it an it hasnt leaked antifreeze anymore

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

could it be used on cracked manifolds or it cant take high heat?

traff1c 03-06-2003 02:34 PM

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

I dont think it can take high heat.... there is another material that is used for that... but i wouldnt really trust it as it could fall off get sucked up by the turbo and ruin your day.

T3 03-06-2003 03:42 PM

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

I wouldnt trust it on a manifold.

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

do u reckon i could get away with JB weld on my turbo oil return, u know the bit that goes into the sump. im not one for welding so i was gonna get a threaded fitting and put some JB weld there just to be on the safe side
by the way that website customcoach posted is well handy, i work on that trading estate ;D

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

My BOV outlet is held on with PVC cement and works fine. JB Weld can only be ten times stronger.

djnikko, I think you want something called a bulkhead fitting that allows you to clamp the pipe through the hole in the oil pan. I'd use some loctite on the threads to keep it from coming apart in your oil pan, and I don't know how well the rubber gaskets that come with some of them would hold up to oil, which is where JB Weld would kick some major ass.

I've done this on three oil pans thus far and no leaks yet (knock on wood!! hhahaha) But yah, on two of them, I used a 1/2 inch npt fitting that I threaded into the oil pan and then just took a stream of jb weld and layered it around the outside and inside of where the piece went through. It's pretty damn good for that.

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

In my old 5.0 mustang I had, I bought it knowing it had a blow head gasket. Turns out that the 1 and 2 cylinders were shooting flames at each other. It "flam cut" the block and head between the 1&2 cylinders, about 3mm on both. So I put JB weld on the block and head, and let it harden for about a day and a half, then new gasket and reassimbled it.

Guess what !!!

It didn't work and the gaskets got screwed up and water mixed in the oil. Spun a bearing 2 days later...

$500, 50K mile motor and ran like a MOFO !! That motor blowing up was the best thing to ever happen to that car !!

Then it broke 2 POS T-5 trannies.. Then I sold it..

I figure its time to break some $2000.00 AWD trannies now.

JB weld is good, but not that good ( like enough to fix combustion camber type stuff.. )..

Dont think it was intended for high temperature useage.

Anybody use Devcon epoxy before?

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

I prefer 3M window weld. I used it to attatch the side skirts on my last CRX, its currently holding on my B pillar moldings. Thats the plan for the custom end tanks

Re:i jb welded my bov on charge pipe

j weld hell yah i used it on a radiator like 60 fucken layers of it and it didnt work but other than that its worked wonders
