I ------- Blew up my Motor Today!

Re:I ------- Blew up my Motor Today!
Got the pistons out, two of them had cracks in the ring lands. I wonder if that's what caused the catastrophic failure....
Anyways, I'll have pics up tonight so you guys can check it out!

Re:I ------- Blew up my Motor Today!
I was using the stock Corolla injectors with a Walbro fuel pump I bought from Vortech. The a/f ratio was always just about perfect under boost, if not rich. The FMU was nice and reliable, but not tunable at all, and had definate limitations.

damn those little Hydrocarbon friendly ringlands!! at least you have a good idea of what might have killed it man, if i ever get all my kit pieced together i'll keep my boost limited to around 6 psi stock internals with the afc hack on my toyota. good luck with the new engine!

You say you'll only run six pounds, that's what I said at first... but then you WILL get greedy once you feel the power!
I'm getting a 65k mile motor from a local yard for like 450 bucks and dropping that in. I was thinking I might try and find a thicker head gasket to lower the compression a bit before the turbo goes back on. I'm also planning on better fuel management using a s-afc.
As a college student without a job, there's no possible way to really build the motor I would like to build (forged pistons, rods, bored over) so I have to sort of make do with what I have...
Its time to raise some money, I guess! I better start slingin' that crack!

10psi? really? The last turbo 4A-FE I encountered took 12 quite happily, then grenaded at 15. He's actually on here somewhere....
Anyways, do you have a definitive answer on what killed it? And take this chance to throw in a 7A-FE, will ya?
