Default HX35 ?

Dont these turbos all have the wastegate built in? if so how do I get around that for external wastegate, Weld it shut? Will a standard 5bolt flange bolt up to it?

Some have wastegates, some don't. Weld the flapper shut, wire it shut, just shut it somehow unless you like 20+ pound internal gates.

Bullseye performance makes a .63 housing for them, which spools super quick on an H22 but doesn't seem to choke it off at higher RPM. FWIW.

No, nothing interchanges between a holset and a garret. The downpipe flange is different, you can get on on egay though. There is even one that comes with a threaded hole with a bolt going through it to hold the wastegate flapper shut. I would rock the stock turbine housing if it is a 12cm before spending the money on a bullseye one.

I agree, 12cm should be plenty small to spool on a GSR.

Holset will spool up just fine on a 1.8L. 4500~5000rpm

It does run an internal gate typically(factory set about 18~20psi), you can unbolt the w/g actuator and tack weld the flapper shut and it will work just fine with an external w/g...I had no trouble controlling mine with an old Tial 35mm gate.

It's f*ckin heavy tho. the turbo alone weighs about 38lbs....typical garret t3/t4 turbos are about 1/2 that.

IT's a super effiecent turbo that will make gobs of power, but make sure you've got a sturdy *** manifold hold it up. I went through 2 manifolds($90 modified SSAC and a $900 One-Fab) before I just straight took my hx35 off.
