how to support boost

Alright guys, this may sound dumb but I've searched high and low. I have a d15 in my crx, already did the mpfi swap with 310cc injectors. Slapped a turbo on and running 7psi. I'm new to the import scene. i know for a v8 you have to reinforce the bottom end to support the forced air but not sure what i have to do on these 4 bangers with only a peak of 160hp. So my questions are: if I'm running 8.5 compression stock, do I need lower compression pistons?; Do i need to sleeve the block?; Do I need double valve springs for higher revvs?; Head studs?; Forged crank? (keep in mind im only running 7psi) I've noticed a lot of yall running 7psi on a stock engine with no problems and only doing internal mods to run high boost.

Forged crank??? LMAO its not a chevy man.
PSI is irrelivant.
Read more... ALOT MORE. This site used to be a grrrreat resource for what you are asking, not somuch anymore.

Sadly.

If your not running a bar youre a girl.

No sleeves
No pistons
t3/04e 57 trim
14 PSI...
DSM450s will get you 300

MAYBE headstuds

Then get it tuned...

A d15 doesn't have 160hp or 8.5: 1 CR stock. Which d15 do you have? d15b vtec? All you have to do is read...everything your doing has been done time and time again.

importkiller228 03-12-2009 04:23 PM

Oh my bad, just been working on the Z28 too much (it has the 8.5: 1). 9.2: 1 CR and Im estimating the boosted power to be 160 or so.

Scott-EP 03-12-2009 04:27 PM

hondas have forged cranks stock. i dont know off hand what the d15's have for compression but you are close enough.

untuned, you dont have 160whp. dyno tuned on 7psi 160whp is possible.

you can run 7psi with no issues on a 100% stock block. if you plan to leave it like that for a while then get it tuned.

importkiller228 03-12-2009 04:28 PM

And D15B non-vtec. And yes it is just D15B (nothing is after the B). I have a lot of guys telling me they only made a vtec D15B and then I open my hood and have to show them.

Yea, I just want to get everything right before bringing it in to get tuned. So when they run the piss out of it, it will stay together.

importkiller228 03-12-2009 05:23 PM

So headstuds for insurance and it will be fine if I stay at 7psi?

Throw a new mls headgasket on there and arp's and your golden. Now get to searching so you know what your doing with this thing.

CspecRun 03-12-2009 06:27 PM

You did the mpfi swap so I'm assuming you had one of the hf engines or something like that. I'm sure you'd be good for at least 7psi with a decent tune.

Scott-EP 03-12-2009 08:51 PM

HF's are multi port. he just has a dx. same pistons in all of them though. 10psi on a good tune is pretty much the max.

sewell94 keeps telling me about this stock block y8 he tuned to 16psi. been running strong for a couple years. its all in the tune.

importkiller228 03-12-2009 11:32 PM

Thanks for all the help guys. and thanks for not ripping on me. I've read a lot of threads were people basically ripped on someone for asking a dumb question and they never answered the actual question.

Get a wideband.

Scott-EP 03-13-2009 06:26 AM

we can tell who deserves the help and who are just douche bags.

you are ok.

how are you controlling those bigger injectors though?

importkiller228 03-13-2009 03:38 PM

I planned on bringing it to jotech in garland, texas and getting Kenny to work his magic.

Scott-EP 03-13-2009 04:52 PM

what are you doing to control them now though?

importkiller228 03-13-2009 07:59 PM

Uh... nothing. I'm not driving the car all the time. I just got everything together and took it for a couple of testdrives to see if everything was sealing properly. Havent gotten on it hard though.

integrals21 03-14-2009 09:26 AM

i like your username...your car doesn't make sense...and boosting with no fuel management? no fmu/crome/uberdata?

Scott-EP 03-14-2009 10:35 AM

expect it to smoke in no time. running 310's with nothing controlling them will wash the oil from the cylinder walls and it will be smoking once everything is worn out nice a good.

igotnothin 03-14-2009 10:54 AM

yea put the stock injectors back in untill you get something to controle the bigger ones..

oh and dont boost untill you get it tunned... ;)

sharkreef25 03-14-2009 11:29 AM

run 12psi on a t25 made 196 any above that hp began to brake ring lands dont know why

What evans said...it's easy to see who isn't a douch and who is. even with that, questions or newbs posting without also posting porn would warrant the wraith of hmt.

It's a kinder...Gentler Homemadeturbo...

Sort of like boyscout hangout turned girl scout.

Being the Chevy fan and z28 owner you are but having the open mindedness to try something new on the "other" side of things makes you acceptable in my book :)

importkiller228 03-16-2009 12:02 AM

Yea, i just wanted to see what all the fuss about these imports is. And I have to say, I think im hooked. lol.
