Default How to run less boost than normal

If I had a turbo with the wastegate set at say, 8 psi, how would I go about trying to run 4 psi from it without modifying the wastegate itself?

u have to modify the wastegate bud.

if its an internal wastegate u usually cut the vaccuum rod and make it shorter.
with a wastegate u can either change the spring or make it adjustable by putting a bolt in the end with a lock nut to seal it.

i am going to try this on this audi wastegate i have i will let you know how it goes.

you will need a vacuum pump to measure vacuum in psi or kpa also

Some people dont like this idea, but we have used it on lots of our setups, its safe, but a bit hard to control. and I know for a FACT the turbo will spool faster this way than with a actuator.

basically remove the wastegate actuator, and loop a little carburator return spring around the wastegate flapper, then tension in somewhere against the block or whatever, the more tension, the more boost, start with very moderate tension and go test drive, adjust as needed. You can set it at any psi you want. 0-whatever. Now if the spring was to ever fall off, it wouldnt overboost either, it just wouldnt boost at all. Basically what is going on is, the spring is holding tension against the flapper, when you accelerate, air is trying to be forced out of the internal wastegate hole, but is being held by the spring, but at a certain point the pressure just pushes the spring open.
