well just wondering on how much boost with a type r block with stock internals. with zydne and a t3 turbo intercooler in a crx. how much boost i getting a dealaon a type r

dude it depends. just tune the car and see where you can push it to, then turn it down a couple lbs for daily driving...

With good fuel management on 7 psi my buddy melted #4 cylinder and broke ring landings on all the rest in his TypeR. Compression is real high for boost. Good choice on getting the Zdyne though. That should definatly save it. But yeah just do like sk8rmike said, tune it and see. :)

I dont see why you could not jsut get a good thicker head gasket and lower that compression..which is not to say you can not boost it now but i think you wuold be happier with lowereing the compression and running more boost well because you are gonna want the higher boost sooner or later ;D

IMO type R motors should be sprayed or just stay NA. why buy a motor built to run high compression and make lots of NA power if you are just going to rip it down and rebuild it to lower the compression and make it better for boost. better off buying a b18c1 and putting a little money into the block and getting the head ported/polished for the same amount of cash as a type R costs...

or what i would do...get an LS swap for cheap as hell (i see them go for like 600 bux for the shortblock around here) and spend all taht damn money you save making the bottom end bulletproof and putting a lot of boost on it.

good engine managment doesnt mean ---- if its not tuned. also before any body can ask how much boost they can run it helps to know how big thier turbo is remember a t25 at 10lbs is alot less than a t4 at 10lbs. while on the subject of psi and turbo size remember cfm's make power psi sells greddy kits.

were, how, what was his engine managment setup. what size turbo was he running. I just ont see 7lbs melting a piston unless he had a major lean out.

He had RC Injectors(not sure on size, maybe 310cc), VAFC, Vortech 12:1 FMU(not sure why), NGK 8's plugs, and it was tuned at PFI in Ft Collins on their dyno. But those guys like to run alot of timing too. Plus it was just stock internals. :(
