Hehe, beautiful reply Whitey ;) The engines reliability isn't dependent on how much boost you can run. It's more on how much power your pushing out of that engine and how well is it tuned. The setup you will be running is going to have a great effect on the hp and tuneability. I personally wouldn't puch much more than 250-275ish on stock internals but don't expect those numbers being untuned. Theres alot more involved so read up! :)

Tons of boost

Re:how much boost is too much for a b16

i gotta b16 99si i wouldn't go higher than 11, well tunned.
i've hit 14 & 18 in 5th gear :-X for about 5 seconds tops and nothing happened. but 11 is max on stock internals.

y dont we try to help people instead of giving them lame ass answers, after all if he wanted bs replys he woulda posted HT right? but bro its not how much boost your running nates, 276whp civic on 9psi is because one its tuned and 2 its a sc61 turbo, fairly big, with my old t3t4 .48/.60 it would take probably 12-14 psi to reach that. anyone know what leed's running on his b16/sc61? i think that has over 300whp right?

Re:how much boost is too much for a b16

on ht he would have been banned, here we just give him ----. and somebody already said it's about hp not boost, so your reply is ass useless as any of ours.

b16 stock internalls. 270hp is the most it's gonna take. just how long will the fairytale last? who knows.

projekteg is the best person to ask about this topic.. for some reason he seems to have an indestructable b16 stock. :o

For the time being ;D It's all in the tuning. An engine will last quite a while longer if it's a good "safe" tune, than an aggressive tune. That is on a stock engine at least.

once again, bs, just b/c that's all you can get out of your b16 doesn't mean that's all it's capable of ;) i know people that have pushed as much as 340whp out of completely stock b16's, i know a guy in fl, that was pushing 320whp daily on his stock b16 with no problems

ringlands, if not tuned properly then the piston in general, then rods, then sleeves

i was going to build a b18 block for my next set up, but i'm gonna see exactly how much power the b16 can handle for how long, and have a block waiting for it to go so it won't be a biggy, i want to have hard facts with dyno numbers, afr's, etc. on the 'max' potential of the stock b16.

to answer your question, unless you're ok with the fact that it could blow at any time, i wouldn't run more than 14 psi WELL TUNED! i never really cared if it blew ;)
