yeah you can def. put like 12 psi through any d series with a few degress timing retard and the afc hack..

both me and my buddy are doing it that way:

me, d16z6, 10psi volvo t3
him, d15b7, 10 psi, greddy

well, it's kind of funny. We did go to the track. It's kind of a long story, so here goes:

Identical mods, N/A, I always pulled ahead.
he has a 95 dx hatch, i have a 95 ex coupe, both i/h/e.

Then he got the greddy kit, and i decided to go custom.
When I was running 6lbs or whatever (.45 bar), and he had installed a profec B boost controller, at about the same boost, he was faster. We both ran like ----... my car was at only 6lbs @ the track, afc hacked, and he was on the blue box, but he could run whateer boost he wanted. heres how it went:

I ran a best time of 15.5 @ 89 @ 6lbs. Eww.
He ran a 15.5 @ 88 @ 6-7lbs too. both 60' were like 2.4, street tires (shitty).

The best I could pull of w/o a boost controller @ 6lbs was a 15.4, and no matter if i richened it or leaned it I couldn't get any better. the 15.4 was w/ a 2.2x 60'.

He upped his boost to 10lbs, and then ran his best time of a 15.0 @ 94mph. He was pinging the whole way down the track (he didn't know what that meant till i asked him!) beacuse he was on teh bluebox, stock timing, with definatley not enough fuel.

Bottom line was, his turbo is smaller, and did better than me at LOW boost.

A few days after the track, I went and made a homedepot manual boost controller, which works great.

Now, with both of us @ 10lbs, I pull ahead of him at a pretty good pace (my t3 is bigger than his greddy). We both are intercooled, he has a tyrus, and i have some front mount i got cheap off ebay and modified to work.

He also went the afc hack route a few days after the track. The main difference between our setups now is the timing. He is running a few more degrees advance than me, but he doesn't ping much. I was pinging so i dropped it back more. He is eitehr at stock timing, or +1 degree, whereas i'm -3 retarded.

Bottom line, if we line up today, with the setups i just described, I will win.

New times to come as soon as the tracks open, but I must say- the power output on my car feels like it DOUBLED going from 6lbs to 10-11. It's like the turbo wasn't even doing anything at 6lbs... now that ****** moves.

I'm hoping for low 14's. A 13 second pass is sometime in the future.

yeehaa, make sure and post times (and video if you can) of it when the track opens back up. I always like seeing HMT's beat up on kits.

I run 11-12 psi on my B7 with a t25. it may also be spiking to 15 psi for a split sec according to the autometer boost gage.
